[Beierli] Sharing: 85 tons of "Jinzhu" bamboo pulp and paper products from Yibin Paper Industry win the first foreign trade order

"Depart!" At 4:30 p.m. on September 18th, with the loading of the last box of goods completed, a fleet loaded with 42 tons of "Jinzhu brand" all-bamboo pulp household paper drove out of the gate of Yibin Paper Industry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Yibin Paper"). This marked the final round of delivery process for the company's first foreign trade business of finished paper products. Three days later, this batch of goods will arrive in Shanghai and be shipped to the United States.

 

"Nearly 450,000 rolls, totaling 85 tons, have been delivered in three batches since the first batch was delivered on August 23," said Zhang Wen, member of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Labor Union of Yibin Paper Industry. As the only state-owned bamboo pulp and paper comprehensive enterprise in China, Yibin Paper Industry has been focusing on the paper industry for nearly 80 years, and this is its "first time" engaging in foreign trade business of finished paper.

 

"Going global" is not that easy. It is understood that the two parties have been in contact since 2022, and just the preliminary communication and negotiation took nearly a year, during which they completed various "catch-up" courses on foreign trade standards.

 

"Previously, the selling points of all-bamboo pulp household paper in China were price and appearance, but customers for foreign orders place more emphasis on environmental protection, hygiene and safety, softness, and quality." After receiving the order, Yibin Paper attached great importance to it and made targeted process adjustments. However, the initial sample submission results were not satisfactory, and the first batch of samples failed to pass the inspection.

 

Firstly, flexibility. Long-fiber bamboo paper needs to match the tactile feel of traditional wood pulp paper products. Secondly, the environmental protection and cleanliness standards for the product are also almost stringent. Even usage habits have become a "stumbling block" - foreigners prefer to wrap paper directly around their hands, rather than cutting and folding it. The traditional folding and cutting process of paper products is prone to tearing, affecting the user experience.

 

Faced with the list of problems, should we just stop here or grit our teeth and keep going? Zhang Wen recalled the pressure back then, "Plus the initial investment in improving the production environment, adjusting the process, and purchasing raw materials, the total investment has exceeded 1 million yuan." Ultimately, the company collectively decided to face the difficulties head-on, and deployed key personnel to form a special team. Through technical breakthroughs and process enhancements, the problems related to flexibility, folding, and embossing were completely solved. Production officially began in August this year and successfully passed the acceptance inspection.

 

"We estimate that we will receive user feedback in two months," said Zhong Xia, Deputy Director of the Finished Paper Products Business Department at Yibin Paper Industry. This batch of goods is just a start. If sales go smoothly, the revenue from this business is expected to reach 20 to 30 million yuan annually in the future.

 

It is reported that this is not the only foreign trade business achieved by Yibin Paper Industry this year. Currently, the company's all-bamboo pulp household paper is also entering the French market simultaneously, with the first batch of goods being 12 tons of kitchen paper. Nowadays, bamboo pulp paper products are becoming another "new favorite" of high-quality life, accounting for about 25% of the national household paper market share, and it is still increasing year by year. Yibin, known as the "Bamboo Capital of China", has inherent advantages in the development of bamboo pulp paper, and has great potential for future development.
